Friday Quick Hits

Quick Hit #1: Russia flexing its muscles.
Putin has warned that Russia may pull out of a treaty on nuclear missiles. More progress toward war...?

Quick Hit #2: More earmark 'transparency' farce.
Amanda Carpenter reports on a three-word bombshell in the recent sham ethics reform bill. Basically, the Appropriations committee said one thing, and reality was something else. No one caught it, and now there is even less transparency on earmarks than before. Here it comes, here it comes...TOLD YOU SO!!!

Quick Hit #3: Invitation To Islam Declartion Of Peace, Or War?
Right Truth posts on this sudden turn of events. Basically, a group of Muslim leaders called for peace with Christians, saying the 'survival of the world' is at stake. But...not everyone sees it as a call to peace: "In Islamic theology the Moslem army has to invite the enemy to convert and embrace Islam before they are allowed to go to war and kill them." Hmmm...last time I checked, it wasn't Christians torturing, beheading, and killing in the name of God...

Quick Hit #4: LOST Navy.
The Washington Times runs a story about a potential treaty that is going through Congress that would essentially pre-empt U.S. Naval operations in favor of international environmental considerations. The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) may grant international arbitration panels to control some activities of the U.S. Navy. Ronald Reagan rejected this treaty; so should our current leaders. More info here. Why would we let our potential enemies control our military operations??

Quick Hit #5: WHY DO YOU HATE CHILDREN SO MUCH?!
Mark Hemingway writes a great satire on MCS (manipulated child syndrome) in response to the SCHIP battle while mixing in a great deal of fact. To me, the most applicable point: "As per one of the major policy critiques of SCHIP, several people have raised questions about the Frost family’s relative need for taxpayer funded insurance, but for Democrats the only important SCHIP question is WHY DO YOU HATE CHILDREN SO MUCH?!" Go read the whole thing. Indeed, rather than face policy questions, these Democrats accuse the questioners of hating children. It's pitiful.

Quick Hit #6: Obscenity disconnect.
Karen Fletcher, a 54-year-old recluse, has been indicted by a federal grand jury and will face obscenity charges for writing about molestation, torture, and sometimes grizzly murders of children. Her stories were available on a pay-for-membership website. Then why, I wonder, did Jim Webb not get prosecuted for his writings about similar vile acts, including incest? As a member of the Democrat party, he got elected to the Senate. No further comment necessary.

Quick Hit #7: Double whammy against Christian schools.
Some dangerous precedents may be set in some cases against private Christian schools in California. A private Christian school is being sued for suspending two students who allegedly engaged in homosexual behavior. A faith-based organization attempted to join the case in support of the school, but a judge barred them. Two problems here: first, that a private religious school is being sued for upholding its own belief system; second, that Christian organizations are not being allowed to stand together to defend their rights. Pray hard, people, pray hard!

Have a great weekend!
