Well, Ted Kennedy did it again. He successfully attached his 'hate crimes' amendment to the 2008 defense spending bill (National Defense Authorization Act). The bill is in conference committee right now, so there is a chance that the amendment will be stripped off the bill before it comes for a final vote. Kennedy maintains this amendment is necessary to protect members of the military from 'hate crimes', but there is really no evidence that it would do so.
This is clearly a ploy by Kennedy to shove through a shady piece of legislation that is unnecessary, deceitful, and harmful to freedom in America. Call your Senators and express your opinion on whether or not this amendment should be addressed at all, much less connected with the defense bill.
